hard-freezeWell the National Weather Service says it’s going to get even colder. A hard freeze watch has been issued for our area tonight.

The national weather service in Tampa bay area - Ruskin fl has issued a hard freeze watch...which is in effect from late tonight through Monday morning.

Freeze and hard freeze warnings remain in effect across much of the region through 8am this morning.
Cold and dry Canadian high pressure continues to build into the area today. Winds will diminish through the day allowing for good radiational cooling tonight. This will cause several hours of sub-freezing temperatures across much of the area overnight.

Temperatures are expected below freezing for 4 to 8 hours with lows around 20 degrees. Temps this cold can kill vegetation that is not properly protected.

A hard freeze warning means sub-freezing temperatures are imminent or highly likely. These conditions will kill crops and other sensitive vegetation.

A hard freeze watch means sub-freezing temperatures are possible.

Also the high surf advisory has been extended through 4 pm Sunday. Gusty northwesterly winds will generate hazardous surf and strong rip currents through Sunday.

The high surf advisory is now in effect until 4 pm est. Sunday.
